How a helmet and a shield travel from a surviving museum object to a piece of equipment in the game.
Equipment in Native Egypt starts from evidence. Before a piece is modelled, we look for surviving objects of the period and region: their shapes, their materials, the way they were made and the way they were worn.
The kalkan shield in our gallery began this way — silk-wrapped cane, an iron boss and brass fittings, developed from a surviving shield. The engraved band on the helmet began with surviving period helmets. Each piece is then adapted into an original design that fits the world of the game.
These are development captures, and the equipment is still being refined.
